In the spring of 1981 I began my life's ambition to work with my hands. My first job in construction was as a laborer for a masonry contractor where I was taught to be on time, work hard, & manage my day. Later that year I landed a second job working for a drywall contractor. I was employed as a installers laborer and cleaned houses. I also worked a third job learning to frame, install windows, insulate, patch drywall, paint, and install doors. I continued this for two seasons; this became frustrating trying to earn a living working three jobs on a as needed basis.
In fall of 1982 I decided to pursue one trade, convinced the owners of the company to further my employment as a drywall Installer. I worked for about two years installing and continued to clean houses. I would also work with one of our company's late shift finishers for free just to learn my trade in depth and applied my new found skill to finishing garages. In 1984 I started finishing houses, texturing ceilings and walls using both spray applied and hand trowel finishes. Then in 1986 came my first advancement when I was promoted into the office as a service technician and began managing my own department. During this time I was certified in exterior plastering and started painting to complete the service needs of our customers. This job entailed all the fundamentals of true business from management, personnel, sales, vendors, and customers. I truly enjoy the one on one contact working as a manager. This would complete the journey to owning and operating a construction company.
In the fall of 1990 my life's ambition would be furthered by the opening of United Wallboard Systems, Inc. which grew from a 4 employees to over 70 by the year 2000. We eventually change the name to United Wall & Ceiling Systems, Inc.(UWCS) and became what I believe to be the premier residential drywall outfit of Western New York. We are presently in the process of opening a new branch in lower New York State anticipating the summer of 2007. My intentions are to open branches statewide. These past 26 years have been fulfilling in so many ways. I owe a great deal of thanks to my family, employees, vendors, customers, and mentors past and present; without all of you I could not have enjoyed this success. The truth is I believe the secret to my success has been the ability to learn, adapt and apply that knowledge with passion and diligence. That is why "Drywall is our business"
